An international judges' panel of
27 journalists from trade magazines are selecting the products based on a survey of major distributors and on pre-defined criteria:
- the product must have been marketed after October 2004
- it must be a proven commercial success
- the product is selected for each of the 8 categories (boissons alcoolisées / boissons non alcoolisées / produits laitiers frais / produits frais non laitiers / épicerie salée / épicerie sucrée / surgelés salés / surgelés sucrés)
The selection is made in partnership with
ACNielsen
in each of the 26 countries concerned.
The panel deliberates in May 2006, and awards one SIAL d'Or per category and one SIAL d'Or per country.
A Global SIAL d’Or is awarded at the ceremony on 23 October at SIAL 2006. This singles out the most remarkable product, all categories and all countries taken together.
