SIAL reveals trends through its worldwide innovation observatory
For more than 10 years now, SIAL has been a springboard for manufacturers to communicate on food innovations by offering them a comprehensive service. Whether visitors are from retailing or the catering profession, the Trends & Innovations Observatory provides a unique opportunity to discover, in a single arena, all the concepts and innovations launched worldwide and to decipher new consumer trends.
Located in Hall 6.

3 out of 4 visitors as well as the 1,500 journalists at the exhibition visit the Trends & Innovations Observatory. This has become a "must" event for SIAL exhibitors from industry, retail and catering.
SIAL Trends & Innovations means :
- 800 products presented by exhibitors at Trends & Innovations (free of charge and reserved exclusively for exhibitors)
- 350 products from 41 countries selected by the jury on the basis of their innovative characteristics (new consumer benefits), including 50 catering products and 19 semi-processed foods, ingredients or outsourcing solutions
- 15 Trends & Innovations Grands Prix and two Special awards were given to the best international innovations
- The Trends & Innovations Observatory is acclaimed by three-quarters of SIAL visitors

Disney SIAL Award: highlight of innovation for children
The Disney-SIAL 2010 award ceremony will take place on 19 October, during the SIAL 2010 Trends & Innovations Awards event. A jury of experts from gastronomy, nutrition, retail and the media will reward a selection of exhibitors’ new products. In addition to being innovative and designed for children aged 3 to 12, the products must appeal to parents by having the nutritional properties required for a balanced diet, yet be tasty and fun.
Products selected as being innovations for children also obtained : 
- an area dedicated to Innovation for Children in the SIAL 2010 Trends & Innovations Observatory and in the Nutrition & Health Village
- presentation of the winning product(s) in the Innovation campaign
- Awards, handed out by TWDC (The Walt Disney Company) for the SIAL 2008 Trends & Innovations awards.
